Scrapbook relating to the Massachusetts Volunteer Aid Association's hospital ship the S.S. Bay State, used during the War of 1898, created by ship purser William H. Seabury, 1898-1938. The scrapbook contains 64 black-and-white paper-based photographs, including photographs of the interior of the ship taken by B.D.B. Bourne of Boston, Mass., ca. 1898, and other photographs believed to be taken by Seabury, ca. 1898; letters to and from Seabury after the war, regarding the ship; copies of speeches made by Seabury after the war, and newspaper clippings regarding the Bay State and its staff and crew during and after the war.
